Description

Description: Freakuence!
The Yamaha R-N600A sounds particularly open and refined, with a soft touch in the upper registers that smooths out any sharp peaks. So relax! It has plenty of power when needed and is dynamic enough to let vocals and instruments flow effortlessly. At low volumes, the (for some, familiar) Loudness button stands out: it adds a bit of extra life to the bass and treble while keeping the midrange nicely in place.
General description
The Yamaha R-N600A is a network receiver that combines streaming, radio, and amplification into a single component for hi-fi systems. This Yamaha R-N600A receiver provides an integrated solution that brings together digital sources, traditional radio stations, and analog inputs. As a result, the Yamaha R-N600A functions as a tuner, streamer, and power amplifier all in one, eliminating the need for multiple separate devices to listen to music.
What makes the Yamaha R-N600A special is its ability to create a clear stereo image with refined detail in both the high and low frequencies. The sound is powerful yet subtle: the dynamics come to life without the sound becoming harsh. The Yamaha R-N600A handles music with nuance, keeping instruments distinct from one another and ensuring that every detail remains audible in both quiet and busy passages. Thanks to the stereo reproduction, you’ll experience a spacious sound where the width and depth of the stage are palpable. Every note is given room to breathe, whether you’re listening to acoustic passages or intense rhythms.
Interested in hearing for yourself how the Yamaha R-N600A sounds? Feel free to schedule a listening session in our listening room so you can experience the difference in sound and dynamics. You can also compare it with other network amplifiers or discuss a trade-in to find out what works best for your setup.

Reviews & awards | Yamaha R-N600A

AmpReviews

: According to AmpReviews, the Yamaha R-N600A delivers a warm, rich sound with “musicality” that’s closer to Yamaha’s more expensive models than you’d expect based on the price. The ESS ES9010K2M DAC is praised for its precision, and its combination with the ToP-ART chassis ensures low distortion, even at high volumes. The reviewer calls it ideal for long listening sessions without listener fatigue and praises the abundance of streaming options, including high-resolution PCM and DSD.

ON-mag

: The device is regarded as a complete and accessible streaming amplifier, with a detailed, neutral sound and a “considerable power reserve.” The only drawbacks mentioned are the lack of HDMI ARC and a USB audio interface. For everyday use, the device offers a “very neutral and nuanced” sound, with slightly more “smoothness” in the bass and less sharpness in the treble compared to the top-of-the-line models.

Le Figaro

: According to Le Figaro, the R-N600A makes a more substantial impression than expected for its price point: its 2×80 W (8 ohms) power output is solid, with good control over bass frequencies, smooth midrange, and a soundstage that stays neatly in place, even at higher volumes.

HiFi-Regler

: The German review highlights the high-quality DAC chip (ESS SABRE ES9010K2M 32-bit, 384 kHz/DSD), the solid build quality, the balanced design, and the wide range of connectivity options—analog and digital inputs, phono, and network capabilities. Downside: operation and setup are considered complex for those unfamiliar with hi-fi equipment.

CD

The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this.
