Description

Description: Freakuence!
Awesome! This is a truly exceptional two-way floorstanding speaker. The timing is perfecto (as they’d say in Italy). The bass is lightning fast. The tweeter has a beautifully expansive sound—extremely clear but without any distortion. Sonus Faber’s midrange has traditionally been described as warm… they haven’t lost that quality, but it’s now definitely a lot cleaner. This speaker is well-balanced—don’t miss your chance!

Reviews & awards | Sonus Faber Maxima Amator

The Absolute Sound

: The Maxima Amator is praised for its breathtaking aesthetics—a solid walnut cabinet made of 25-mm panels, finished with leather front and rear panels and a black marble base. Sonically, the model delivers a “wow” factor in vocal performance: clear, fast, very natural, with no audible coloration.

Hi-Fi News

: This floor-standing speaker from the Heritage series is launched with a substantial design budget and premium build quality: solid walnut, leather panels, Port Saint Laurent marble, and brass inlays. Technically speaking, the cabinet is very sturdily constructed with rubber mounts, structural ribs, and flexible adhesives to prevent warping or cracking caused by wood expansion and contraction.

HomeTheaterHiFi.com

: highlights how the Maxima Amator “disappears” into the listening space, with impressive imaging and detail reproduction without any harsh edges. For music starting at around 30 Hz, you can feel it in your chest—all this despite the fact that it consists of just one 7-inch woofer and one tweeter.

SoundStage Ultra

: Jeff Fritz calls it a speaker that will take you on “a journey of discovery,” praising its ability to bring different types of music to life with detail, dynamics, and emotion. He notes that the bass below 30 Hz leaves something to be desired if you frequently listen to such frequencies.

Tone Publications

: speaks of “love at first listen,” particularly due to the combination of solid mid-woofer performance (zooming in on the 35 Hz specification) and natural sound, along with a very inviting tonal quality and sparkling detail in the high frequencies. The soundstage is wide enough to deliver an engaging listening experience even outside the sweet spot.

What Hi-Fi?

: emphasizes the musical integration of the drivers and how the speaker balances speed, detail, and natural sound, especially when paired with suitable electronics; the bass is controlled, and the treble is refined and free of sibilance. According to this review source, sonic coherence is a key quality here.

CD

Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this.
