General description
This integrated amplifier system uses the Square Tube® circuit, which employs four triodes per channel. This innovative configuration provides complete signal amplification. The output voltage of the Square Tube® circuit is applied directly to the speaker terminals. Audio power transistors, which are exceptionally linear, provide only impedance matching and deliver the necessary current to the speakers without further amplifying the signal. This approach eliminates problems common to traditional output transformers, such as phase shifts in both low and high frequencies, poor low-frequency behavior and current limitations. The chassis is made entirely of aluminum and steel and finished in mineral gray. The front panel features an acrylic panel over three-quarters of the top section, with a recessed rotary knob on the right side for menu navigation. The system features four line inputs and one phono MM input, with an input impedance of 47 kΩ for the phono input and 15 kΩ for the line inputs. Output power is 2 x 70 W at 8 Ω and 2 x 100 W at 4 Ω. The bandwidth runs from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a ±1 dB deviation. The system weighs 9.5 kg and has dimensions of 118 x 420 x 370 mm.
General description
The best of both worlds, the hybrid amplifier is sometimes talked about. Let’s at least call it a very nice solution for those who can very much appreciate the musical properties of the tube, but also like to have it combined with the very fast and tight punch of a transistor, mosfet or class D amplifier.
Background information
The Kora TB140 was designed in Toulouse by engineer Bruno Ginouvès, with a focus on natural sound and musical experience. The amplifier uses the hybrid “Square Tube” topology, a unique configuration with a tube preamp and a transistor output stage. High-quality cabling is used internally, with short signal paths for minimal distortion. The cabinet is sturdy and beautifully finished, largely with parts from Europe.
