The cabinet is sturdy and carefully designed to minimize resonances, made of high-quality MDF panels. The internal amplifier delivers 200 watts of power, offering impressive control. Design elements such as Flowport technology optimize airflow and reduce distortion. B&W prides itself on the craftsmanship and precision with which their products are made, often using materials from trusted sources to ensure consistency and quality.
Bowers & Wilkins was founded in 1966 by John Bowers in Worthing, England. The first loudspeaker, the P1, was assembled by hand in a workshop behind an electronics store. In 1968, the company was officially registered as B&W Loudspeakers Ltd. In 1974, the brand introduced the DM6, followed by the 801 in 1979, a model used in recording studios. Bowers & Wilkins developed several models in the 800 Series in the following years. In 1998, its R&D center, the Steyning Research Establishment, was opened. In 2015, the company introduced the 800 Series Diamond. Head designers such as Laurence Dickie and later John Dibb contributed to product development. In 2020, Bowers & Wilkins was acquired by Sound United LLC. It is headquartered in the United Kingdom.
