The tone arm is adjustable for vertical tracking angle, azimuth and overhang. The MDF chassis is finished with high-gloss lacquer in red, black or white. A dust cover of clear acrylic is optionally available.
Thorens was founded in 1883 in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland. Originally, the company manufactured music boxes and timepieces. In 1903, Thorens began producing phonographs, later followed by gramophones. In the 1950s, the brand introduced its first electrically driven turntables. The TD 124, released in 1957, is considered an important model within the portfolio. In the following decades, Thorens released several models, including the TD 150 in 1965, a turntable with sub-chassis construction. The TD 160 followed in 1972. Production ceased in 1999, after which the company restarted several times under new management. Since 2018, Thorens has been based in Germany. The brand has since released both refurbished classic models and new turntables. The emphasis has remained on the traditional construction of analog turntables.
