General description
The Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a V3 is a loudspeaker that builds on the qualities of the LS3/5a V2. Retaining the same drivers and thin-walled enclosure, this version introduces a new, high-performance crossover design. This results in even lower distortion and a higher degree of transparency.

The new crossover, designed by Derek Hughes, is significantly larger and incorporates larger components, including precisely tuned air-core coils. This approach eliminates the saturation that often occurs in coils with ferrite or iron cores. In addition, the crossover is mounted on the rear panel, allowing further reduction of distortion.

The LS3/5a V3 retains the distinctive features of its predecessors, but offers an enhanced listening experience thanks to refined technical modifications.

Background information
The Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a v3 is an accurate reissue of the legendary BBC monitor, developed under license from the BBC. Designer Derek Hughes based on original BBC specifications and used the classic KEF T27 tweeter and B110 woofer concept, but with modern SEAS drivers. The cabinet is constructed of 9 mm birch plywood with beech slats for the panels, following the ‘lossy cabinet’ principle. The internal wiring is high quality and hand soldered; the filter is an accurate imitation of the original BBC LS3/5a filter.

Stirling Broadcast was founded in 1993 in the United Kingdom. The company acquired a license from the BBC to produce the LS3/5a loudspeaker, a license that was extended to a full production license around 1998. This speaker was initially built using KEF drivers as a reference, but after stopping production of these drivers, Stirling Broadcast developed its own version, known as the LS3/5a V2. This version used specially developed components, including a bass/mid driver by SEAS and a custom tweeter by Scan-Speak. Another reconstruction involved the BBC LS3/6, for which Stirling worked closely with Derek Hughes in developing a new driver with Volt Loudspeakers. CD

De Compact Disc (CD) kwam zoals de meeste uitvindingen niet uit de lucht vallen. Na de uitvinding van de laser in 1958 werd in 1961 het eerste octrooi voor optisch leesbare schijven ingediend. In 1972 werden de eerste digitale videoplaten geïntroduceerd. Na een flop van Philips kwam de fabrikant in 1979 samen met Sony met de eerste cd, wat erop stond weten wij niet maar in 1982 kwam de eerste cd voor de markt uit, het was het album Visitors van ABBA. In dit jaar kwam de eerste speler beschikbaar en zo begon de verdrijving van de lp uit de markt. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen. Heb je cd’s, geniet er vooral nog eens van, ze hebben immers geen oneindige levensduur.

CD

Die Compact Disc (CD) kam, wie die meisten Erfindungen, nicht aus heiterem Himmel. Nach der Erfindung des Lasers im Jahr 1958 wurde 1961 das erste Patent für optisch lesbare Discs angemeldet. 1972 wurden die ersten digitalen Video-Discs eingeführt. Nach einem Flop von Philips tat sich der Hersteller 1979 mit Sony zusammen, um die erste CD auf den Markt zu bringen. Was darauf war, wissen wir nicht, aber 1982 wurde die erste CD für den Markt veröffentlicht, es war ABBAs Album Visitors. In diesem Jahr kam auch der erste Player auf den Markt und damit begann die Verdrängung der LP vom Markt. Viele warfen ihre LPs buchstäblich in den Müll… einige Besucher schrecken immer noch zurück, wenn sie uns das erzählen. Wenn Sie CDs haben, sollten Sie sie auf jeden Fall wieder genießen, denn sie haben keine unendliche Lebenserwartung.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen.
