Background information
SolidSteel SS-6 is a hi-fi equipment stand that has been carefully designed for optimal acoustic performance. According to the manufacturer, designers such as Guido Radaelli were involved in its development and adopted a minimalist design philosophy to minimize resonances. The stand is made of heavy-gauge steel and is filled with a special damping material sourced from local suppliers in Italy. The components are handcrafted and assembled in Italy, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and durability. The internal wiring and connections are designed to minimize signal loss and ensure pure sound reproduction.
Brand history
Solidsteel was founded in 1990 by Moreno Conti, inspired by his background in metalworking and passion for music. Moreno’s work experience at the Conti family business, which produced exhausts for Ducati motorcycles, gave him the expertise to develop furniture designs. In 1988-1989, he built the first prototypes for sound carriers, which were tested by friends and enthusiasts. These designs, which included invisible welds and wooden shelves, became the hallmark of the brand. From the beginning, Solidsteel partnered with distribution company Audiogamma for national and international expansion. After Moreno’s death in 2013, the family continued the company, maintaining the original vision.

Crutchfield

describes the Solidsteel SS-6 as a 24.6-inch-tall speaker stand with an anti-resonant steel construction and an MDF top plate. The tripod design provides stability and minimizes acoustic interaction between the speaker and the stand. The steel tubes can be filled with sand or lead for added mass and resonance control. Included are adjustable spikes for carpet and metal discs to protect hard floors. The stand requires minimal assembly and comes with a 5-year warranty.

CD

The Compact Disc (CD), like most inventions, did not appear out of thin air. After the invention of the laser in 1958, the first patent for optically readable disks was filed in 1961. The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this.
