These speakers deliver open and detailed reproduction, with a wide and seamless soundstage. The integration between the electrostatic panels and the cone woofer is so good that the transition is not noticeable.
Details
Yes, that is a drawback. Panels of electrostats are running out. They will then sound duller, crackle or play softer. The previous owner had the panels of this set professionally overhauled. After an overhaul factory new, and many years of listening pleasure.Overhauled last year by Mark Huinder of SoloSound. That is a topper in this field.
General description
The Martin Logan Ascent i is a floorstanding loudspeaker known for its combination of electrostatic technology and traditional woofer. Introduced in 2003, this model is derived from the Prodigy and embodies Martin Logan’s signature design language. The design includes a large electrostatic panel for the highs and mids, combined with a 10-inch woofer for the low frequencies. This combination provides controlled dispersion and an impressive dynamic range. The sound is characterized by clarity and accuracy, making the Ascent i suitable for both stereo playback and home theater use. The slim, sleek design fits into a variety of interiors. With a sensitivity of 90 dB and an impedance of 4 ohms, the Ascent i is compatible with a variety of amplifiers. Bass response can be adjusted with a switch that reduces low frequencies by 3 dB if desired. The speaker features bi-wire connections for flexible cabling options. Weighing 32.5 kg and measuring 162.6 cm high, 33 cm wide and 55.9 cm deep, the Ascent i is a robust addition to any audio system.
