The KEF R5 is a slim floorstanding loudspeaker that comes into its own in both stereo setups and home theater systems. Thanks to the 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), the R5 delivers clear and precise sound. The two 5.25-inch hybrid aluminum bass drivers provide tight and controlled bass. The design is elegant and fits into a variety of interiors.

The KEF R3 Meta is designed according to KEF’s acoustic philosophy: clear, accurate sound with minimal distortion. The speaker features the latest Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs unwanted resonances up to 99%. The cabinet is reinforced with Constrained Layer Damping for reduced vibration. Developed by KEF’s acoustics team led by Jack Oclee-Brown.

KEF was founded in 1961 in Maidstone, Kent, by former BBC ringmaster Raymond Cooke. The name is derived from Kent Engineering & Foundry, the site on which its first headquarters was located. In its early years, the company developed products using synthetic materials and mathematical models. KEF introduced the Reference concept in 1973, where each pair of systems was electronically matched. In the 1980s, KEF used digital technologies to optimize production. In 1988, the first computer-aided acoustic measurement system was used. Uni-Q driver technology was introduced in 1988 and has since been used in several models. In 1972 werden de eerste digitale videoplaten geïntroduceerd. Na een flop van Philips kwam de fabrikant in 1979 samen met Sony met de eerste cd, wat erop stond weten wij niet maar in 1982 kwam de eerste cd voor de markt uit, het was het album Visitors van ABBA. In dit jaar kwam de eerste speler beschikbaar en zo begon de verdrijving van de lp uit de markt. Velen hebben hun lp’s letterlijk bij het vuil gezet… sommige bezoekers zien wij nog steeds balen als ze dit vertellen. Heb je cd’s, geniet er vooral nog eens van, ze hebben immers geen oneindige levensduur.

The first digital video records were introduced in 1972. After a flop by Philips, the manufacturer, together with Sony, released the first CD in 1979. We do not know what it contained, but in 1982 the first CD was released for the market, it was the album Visitors by ABBA. In this year the first player became available and so began the elimination of the LP from the market. Many have literally thrown their LPs in the trash… we still see some visitors being disappointed when they tell us this.
