Description
Beautiful columns from the beautiful R line. Sound great and refined! Voices are very direct and convincing in the foreground, with drums placed behind them, for example. Doing them nicely, set a good stage in front of you. They provide a neutral and transparent sound, with a wide sweet spot and controlled bass.
The covers have slight waviness (see photos).
The KEF R5 is a slim floorstanding loudspeaker that comes into its own in both stereo setups and home theater systems. Thanks to the 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), the R5 delivers clear and precise sound. The two 5.25-inch hybrid aluminum bass drivers provide tight and controlled bass. The design is elegant and fits into a variety of interiors.
The KEF R5 is designed according to KEF’s signature acoustic vision of “soundstage and precision. Developed by the British R&D team led by Jack Oclee-Brown, the R5 incorporates a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver, which brings together mids and highs for a coherent soundstage. The cabinet is acoustically optimized with internal bracing and damping. Internal wiring comes from high-quality specification from specialized sources.
KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke in Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom. The name derives from Kent Engineering & Foundry, where the original workshop was located on the site of Kent Engineering’s steel construction plant. Raymond Cooke was a former BBC audio engineer. From the beginning, the company used synthetic materials and made measurements under controlled conditions. In 1973, a special acoustic laboratory was opened for technical developments. In 1988 KEF developed the Uni-Q driver, in which the treble and midrange speakers are placed together in one axis. Since 2005, it has been headquartered in East Sussex, Great Britain. Over the years, the brand has focused on construction of loudspeakers, including floorstanding models, bookshelf models and flush-mount speakers, as well as portable playback products.
