The iFi Audio xDSD Gryphon was designed by Thorsten Loesch and his team with a focus on high-end portable performance. It combines a Burr-Brown DAC with a custom XMOS chip for bit-perfect playback up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. The all-metal enclosure is CNC-machined, while discrete components and a balanced circuit layout ensure minimal noise. Everything has been developed in-house in the UK.
iFi Audio was founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of Abbingdon Music Research (AMR), based in the United Kingdom. The brand develops and manufactures equipment designed to support digital and analog signal processing. It is headquartered in Southport, England. Product development and engineering are carried out entirely in-house, with components sourced from Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, among others. Product assembly takes place in in-house manufacturing facilities. iFi Audio employs several patented technologies, including ANC II (Active Noise Cancellation) and GMT (Global Master Timing). The company says it considers minimizing electrical noise when designing its products.
