This network drive offers a linear power supply with an oversized transformer and super capacitor for optimal performance. The device features multiple USB ports: two for external storage, a Wi-Fi dongle or an optical drive for ripping discs, and one marked ‘USB DAC’ for audio output to an external digital-to-analog converter. There are also ‘USB Fiber’ and ‘Ethernet Fiber’ ports, which can be used via a hub to isolate the system from external noise. The ‘Ethernet Fiber’ port is the only way to establish a wired connection to a home network and uses a plug-in SFP transceiver. An RJ45 adapter for conventional wired connections is included. The system includes an oven-controlled master clock for stable timing and re-clocking of all streams. An internal SSD caches data from connected USB or network drives, with the ability to install a larger SSD up to 4TB through a bottom hatch, provided it is no thicker than 7 mm.
The Hifi Rose RS130 is designed as a high-end audio streamer with a focus on noise reduction, clock precision and signal isolation. Hifi Rose’s Korean engineers use a CNC-machined aluminum enclosure for optimal vibration control. Inside, you’ll find galvanic isolation, femto-clock and OCXO clock modules, plus a low-noise linear power supply. Among other things, the RS130 supports I²S and optional optical isolation via fiber optics.
Hifi Rose is a brand of South Korean company Citech Co., Ltd. which has been dedicated to developing high-quality audio components in the network streamer and all-in-one player category since 2017. The brand uses proprietary hardware and software platforms, including the ROSE OS operating system based on Android. Hifi Rose’s devices use an LCD touchscreen integrated across the full width of the front panel. In doing so, the brand supports popular streaming services such as TIDAL, Qobuz and Apple Music. Musical playback is via both analog and digital outputs, depending on the model. Local storage is possible via internal storage spaces or external USB and MicroSD interfaces. The devices can additionally function as CD-rippers when connected to an external CD-ROM drive. Music playback is compatible with formats up to and including DSD512 and PCM 32-bit/768 kHz.
