What is the recommended power rating for the Fyne F500SP amplifier?
The recommended amplifier power is between 30 and 120 watts RMS, at an 8-ohm load.
How should the speaker circuit be connected—single-wire or bi-wiring?
Both options are available: with single wiring, the link bars between the HF and LF terminals remain in place; with bi-wiring, you remove the link bars and use two separate cables for HF and LF.
What types of connectors does the speaker have—does it have binding posts or special connectors?
The speaker has two sets of terminals (for high frequency and low frequency) plus an additional ground terminal to improve HF performance by reducing RF interference. Binding posts for 4 mm plugs or bare wire are available.
What is the frequency response of the F500SP?
The frequency response ranges from approximately 42 Hz to 34 kHz (−6 dB typical in a room).
What about impedance and sensitivity?
The nominal impedance is 8 ohms, and the sensitivity is 90 dB at 2.83 Vrms at 1 meter.
What does “BassTrax™ Tractrix diffuser” mean, and how does it affect placement in the room?
This is a bottom-mounted ported diffuser system that directs the airflow and distributes it evenly throughout the room, making it easier to place the unit closer to the back wall without the need for a heavy bass enclosure.
What does “IsoFlare™ point source driver” mean, and what technology is incorporated into it?
IsoFlare combines a midrange/woofer and a compression tweeter in a concentric configuration so that high-frequency sound energy emanates from the same point, with a waveguide and a neodymium magnet system for uniform dispersion.
How does the FyneFlute™ surround affect performance?
The FyneFlute edge reduces resonance at the edge of the cone and ensures a smoother transition between cone frequencies, resulting in greater precision in the mid-bass range.
What dimensions should the piece of furniture or display stand have for optimal performance?
The speaker is 323 mm tall, 200 mm wide, and 320 mm deep, and weighs 8.1 kg; a stable setup that places the speaker at least 50 cm from the back wall is helpful for bass response.
Does removing the grille result in a noticeable improvement in sound quality?
Yes, even though the magnetically attached grilles are very transparent, removing them can make the high-frequency detail and imaging sound slightly more open.
