A B&W with exceptionally transparent sound. Whereas its predecessors emphasized the midrange more, the D3 series operates more within the natural spectrum than before\u2014but in the way B&W likes to see (read: hear) it! Vocals are rendered fully in the foreground. The bass from these \u201csmall\u201d floorstanding speakers goes quite deep when paired with a good amplifier. The Bowers & Wilkins 802 D3 is a floorstanding speaker known for its accurate and detailed sound reproduction. With a slim design, it fits into living rooms as well as studio environments. The 802 D3 is equipped with a Diamond tweeter and a Continuum cone midrange driver, providing a natural and clear sound. The Bowers & Wilkins 802 D3 was designed with absolute precision by the R&D team led by engineer Laurence Dickie. The cabinet is made of solid plywood with an aluminum Turbine Head to minimize resonance. The diamond tweeter and Continuum midrange cone deliver exceptional clarity. Internal wiring is supplied by Mundorf, and everything is hand-assembled in the United Kingdom.<\/span><\/div>\n
Brand History<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Bowers & Wilkins was founded in 1966 by John Bowers in Worthing, England. The first loudspeaker, the P1, was assembled by hand in a workshop behind an electronics store. In 1968, the company was officially registered as B&W Loudspeakers Ltd. In 1974, the brand introduced the DM6, followed by the 801 in 1979, a model used in recording studios. Bowers & Wilkins developed several models in the 800 Series in the following years. In 1998, its R&D center, the Steyning Research Establishment, was opened. In 2015, the company introduced the 800 Series Diamond. Lead designers such as Laurence Dickie and later John Dibb contributed to product development.
