The system supports AirPlay and UPnP streaming, and offers high-resolution support up to 32-bit\/384kHz. This led to the technology that later became known as SoundEngine. In 1988, the name Hegel was first used for an amplifier. The company released several CD players and amplifiers in the 1990s. In 1996, the first fully balanced amplifier was introduced. Around 2004, the brand began developing DA converters. Later products featured networking capabilities to support digital music playback. Hegel exclusively markets its own electronics, developing both the circuit design and the necessary software itself.
