The REL T7x is a subwoofer designed to function in both music systems and home theater setups. Designed by chief engineer John Hunter, the REL T7x combines compact size with serious performance. The cabinet is built of sturdy MDF with internal bracing and has a high-quality piano lacquer finish. REL uses their proprietary NextGen Class D amplifier (200 watts) and an 8″ active as well as a passive 10″ driver, both made of lightweight aluminum. Internal wiring is REL’s own high-level input cable for direct connection to the power amplifier, which integrates better with main speakers. <\/span><\/div>\n
Brand history<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
REL Acoustics was founded by Richard Edmund Lord, born in 1939. After a stint as a radio operator in the merchant marine, he founded the company with the goal of building the best subwoofers. In 1990, REL introduced the High Level Input, which derives the input signal from the power amplifier, allowing for seamless integration with speakers. In 1998, the company developed the ABC Input Filters and High Current Amplifiers, focused on precise crossover settings and providing sufficient power for subwoofer drivers. After an acquisition in 2005, new ideas and technologies were introduced, including NaturalSound Filtering in 2007 and Carbon Fibre Driver Cones in 2010.
