General description<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
This power amplifier delivers 100 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms and 200 watts RMS at 4 ohms. With a frequency range of less than 3 Hz to more than 80 kHz (-1 dB) and total harmonic distortion of less than 0.02% at 20 Hz to 20 kHz at rated power (8 ohms), it offers detailed and accurate sound reproduction. The signal-to-noise ratio is over 113 dB at full power, providing clear and noise-free sound. The amplifier uses unique Class XA amplifier technology, which reduces distortion to inaudible levels and produces less heat, making the system more efficient. With only 14 carefully selected components in the signal path, faithful reproduction of the original recording is achieved. The dimensions are 150 x 460 x 405 mm and the weight is 23.6 kg. <\/span><\/div>\n
Background information<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The Cambridge Audio Edge W is the result of three years of work by a team led by designer Matthew Bramble. This power amplifier uses a minimalist circuit design with only carefully selected components for the shortest possible signal path. The Edge W uses fully balanced architecture, a custom toroidal transformer and high-quality capacitors. The housing is heavy-duty, low-resonance aluminum. <\/span><\/div>\n
Brand history<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Cambridge Audio was founded in 1968 in Cambridge, England. That same year, the company introduced its first product, the P40, an integrated amplifier with a toroidal transformer. Products such as the P50 amplifier and the T55 FM tuner followed in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1995, the company moved to London. In 1999, the Azur development program was launched. Starting in 2003, Azur series models were produced, including the 640A and 640C. In 2010, the company introduced the StreamMagic platform. In 2014, the CX series was launched.
