The speaker features the latest Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs unwanted resonances up to 99%. The cabinet is reinforced with Constrained Layer Damping for reduced vibration. Developed by KEF&#8217;s acoustics team led by Jack Oclee-Brown.   <\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"specification-item row-even\"><span class=\"spec-content\"><strong>Brand history<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"specification-item row-odd\"><span class=\"spec-content\"><\/p>\n<p>KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke in Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom. The name derives from Kent Engineering &amp; Foundry, where the original workshop was located on the site of Kent Engineering&#8217;s steel construction plant. Raymond Cooke was a former BBC audio engineer. From the beginning, the company used synthetic materials and made measurements under controlled conditions. In 1973, a special acoustic laboratory was opened for technical developments. In 1988 KEF developed the Uni-Q driver, in which the treble and midrange speakers are placed together in one axis. Since 2005, it has been headquartered in East Sussex, Great Britain.
